Dhanajai BORWANKAR

Dhananjai Borwankar is a Technical Specialist with the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS), where he provides expertise in the elimination, reduction, and the control of hazards for Canadian workplaces.

Since joining CCOHS in 2009, Dhananjai has been involved in the development of products focused on risk analysis and reduction, to assist commercial and industrial establishments improve their health and safety performance. He’s helped develop include training courses, publications and chemical risk management tools. In addition, he is involved in building specialized tools that guide organizations through the process of analyzing their hazards, and implementing controls to eliminate or reduce the risks associated with these hazards.

Dhananjai received an Honours Bachelor of Science as well as a Masters of Applied Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Waterloo. In addition, he also received a Post Graduate Certificate in Environmental Management and Assessment from Niagara College.

 
 

Donnita DERBYSHIRE

Donnita Derbyshire is an ACP and Professional Development Officer with M.D. Ambulance in Saskatoon.  She has worked both rural and urban EMS over the last 16 years, and has experience working in the emergency department in addition to ground ambulance and Air Ambulance.

Having started out as an education student at the University of Saskatchewan has lent itself to becoming an educator for EMS providers. Recently Donnita has completed the Certificate in Adult Continuing Education through the U of S.

Jeff practiced as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist at WRHA Health Sciences Centre for eighteen years. He has been with the WRHA Radionuclide Safety Program for nine years and has been the Corporate Radiation Safety Coordinator for seven years. Along with his Assistant Coordinator, he was involved in the radiation safety response to an I-131 radionuclide therapy (RNT) patient requiring emergency surgery at a Winnipeg community hospital in JUN 2010.

Jeff has Chaired the Canadian Radiation Protection Association (CRPA) Exam Committee since 2008 and has been a member of the CRPA Board of Directors since MAY 2011. He has done two presentations at CRPA Annual Meetings dealing with Non-Routine RNT Situations.

In his spare time, Jeff runs the all-volunteer Winnipeg Amateur Radio Emergency Service and took vacation time for 2009 & 2011 Flood Operations. He is a three-time guest speaker at the Manitoba Disaster Management Conference and received an Award of Excellence in Community Disaster Management at the March 2011 Manitoba Disaster Management Conference.

Jeff completed the MHSC First Responder Program in 1989.

 
Neil McDonald

Neil has been an instructor with Wilderness Medical Associates since 2002 and has been guiding wilderness expeditions since 1990.

A former medic in the Canadian Forces, he co-owned and operated a traditional canoe-tripping camp in Ontario for ten years. Also a Wilderness Water Safety instructor, Neil is currently a paramedic in Winnipeg, where he lives with his wife and two children.

Marc has been involved in health care since 1986, starting as an orderly with St Boniface Hospital working in the ER, OR, and the Medical Intensive Care Unit.

In the early 1990s, Marc became a CPR instructor and achieved the level of Instructor Trainer with various programs including Heart & Stroke, Red Cross, and others.

Marc became involved with EMS in 1996 by becoming an EMR with Seine River EMS (in Ste Anne, Mb). After becoming an EMT, Marc rose to a site manager position within the then newly formed South Eastman Regional Health Authority.

In 2000, Marc joined the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service and has since completed the Advanced Care Paramedic program. Currently a PHTLS and PEPP instructor, Marc  was until recently the training officer in charge of the Primary Care Paramedic program held at the WFPS Academy.

Ms. Stam’s practice encompasses all aspects of labour, employment, human rights and employee benefits & pension law, with a focus on employment, labour and administrative law litigation.  She regularly provides clients with domestic and international employment advice, drafting offer letters and employment contracts, workplace policies and handbooks, advising on bonus and commission plans, workplace privacy issues, health and safety issues, independent contractors, confidential and proprietary information, and discipline and terminations.

Lisa has appeared at various levels of court and tribunals, including before the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal. She has advised on a variety of human rights issues such as accommodating disabilities in the workplace, sexual harassment and discrimination.

In addition to a focus on administrative law and human rights issues in the workplace, Ms. Stam frequently speaks on and advises employers on the impact, risks and benefits of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and other social media in the workplace.
